xbox and oculus

Oculus and Microsoft have teamed up to create a package that will see the Virtual Reality (VR)headset sold with an Xbox One controller for use with the Xbox One Console.

The headset package is set to compete with the likes of Sony’s Morpheus – the PlayStation 4’s take on Virtual Reality gear,  soon to be released.

Virtual insanity?

For Microsoft, the deal means that owners of a shiny new Oculus will have the ability to stream Xbox One games from their console to the new headset giving the gamer a front row seat in amongst the action – however, virtual reality games are not part of Microsoft’s plans as yet.

Whether or not Microsoft will develop virtual reality games for the system has neither been confirmed or denied but one would hope this would be the case.

It would, as some commentators have noted, seem short-sighted and somewhat risky if Microsoft decided against developing VR games for their system considering Sony is almost ready to launch the aforementioned VR unit to market very soon.

Touch points

Nevertheless, Microsoft are upbeat about their new partnership and one of the main unique selling points they want to push for Oculus is the development of a new ‘touch system’ which will offer users virtual handheld controllers. We here at Fortune Frenzy are extremely excited about this, we can’t wait to see how this works out!
