The FIFA World Cup is one of the most exciting sporting events in the world if not THE most exciting. Teams from around the world represent their respective countries in the hopes of bringing home the most prestigious football trophy in the world. A few teams will be representing Africa, and in this article, we will analyze them and their chances of winning the championship in detail.

This time around, the hype for an African team in going far in the World Cup is at an all-time high. In recent interviews, professional football players from Africa have expressed how teams from Africa have undergone special training sessions in preparation for the qualifiers and the World Cup.

Speaking of the African qualifiers, a total of 54 teams have battled for the top spots. 5 of the said 54 teams have successfully qualified and will be competing in the World Cup 2018 later in June.

As previously mentioned, a total of 54 teams have battled in the hopes of representing their country in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia. Five of them have been successful and will now stand a chance to take home the ultimate trophy. The qualified teams are:

  • Tunisia – Group A winners, qualified on the 11th of November 2017
  • Nigeria – Group B winners, qualified on the 7th of October 2017
  • Morocco – Group C winners, qualified on the 11th of November 2017
  • Senegal – Group D winners, qualified on the 10th of November 2017
  • Egypt – Group E winners, qualified on the 8th of October 2017

After a staggering 127 games played in the qualifiers, both Prejuce Nakoulma and Mohamed Shah from Burkina Faso and Egypt have scored the highest number of goals (5 goals each).
