South America

For today’s article, we will be talking about all the South American teams who qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2018 and what the odds are on any of them winning.

As many of you may or may not be aware, the FIFA World Cup is weeks away from starting and will be upon us as of June 14th with the first match of Russia against Saudi Arabia.

With that said, let’s take a look at the South American teams that are most likely to be the winner of the World Cup. We hope (but also don’t hope) that it is Brazil, as it would be unfair for them to keep winning all the time, yet they are an awesome team.

This is the entire list of South American teams who qualified for the World Cup 2018 and how likely they are to win.

World Cup Qualified Participants

About half of all the South American teams who appeared in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers got through into the World Cup itself. Here they all are:

  • Uruguay — Their first match will be against Egypt on 15th June 2018.
  • Argentina — Their first match will be against Iceland on 16th June 2018.
  • Peru — Their first match will be against Denmark on 16th June 2018.
  • Brazil — Their first match will be against Switzerland on 17th June 2018.
  • Colombia — Their first match will be against Japan on 19th June 2018.

All the teams that appear here have been ordered in their appearance in the World Cup, as you could probably tell by the dates.

TL;DR — All the teams listed will be appearing in the World Cup at different stages as per the dates.

Which South American Teams Didn’t Get Through?

If you’re curious as to which South American teams didn’t make it into the World Cup, we have a list of all the nations who will not be represented:

  • Ecuador — Lost to Argentina 1-3.
  • Venezuela — Drew with Argentina and Uruguay.
  • Chile — Lost to Brazil 3-0.
  • Bolivia— Lost to Uruguay 4-2.
  • Paraguay — Lost to Venezuela 0-1.

While it is without question that the teams did their best to get into the tournament, their efforts fell far too short for them to get in.

TL;DR — These are all the teams who didn’t get into the World Cup 2018, so placing bets on them will be a waste of time in this regard.

Where Do You Make Your Bets?

You can place all your bets on the qualifying nations at any sports betting sites near you. It’s simple to do and can be done anywhere with an internet connection.

If you’re a bit pressed for time, however, here’s all the odds on all the South American qualifiers in their first matches of the season:

  • Uruguay v Egypt
    • Uruguay — 56%
    • Draw — 25%
    • Egypt — 19%
  • Colombia v Japan
    • Columbia — 56%
    • Draw — 28%
    • Japan — 18%

    • Japan — 18%
  • Peru v Denmark
    • Peru — 27%

    • Denmark — 45%

To conclude, then, it’s better for you to make bets on the South American teams who are probably going to make it through their first match. However, if you want high returns, you should bet more on the teams least likely to win in each match. But take that strategy at your own risk.

TL;DR — Pay attention to all odds to make sure you pay for a sensible bet.
