The World Cup 2018 begins in less than a week’s time and as you may have noticed, here at Fortune Frenzy we’ve been compiling a comprehensive guide to the competition. How Were the World Cup 2018 Referees Selected?

In order to make sure all of the thirty six referees of the World Cup 2018 are both competent and unbiased, FIFA have chosen the officials ‘based on each referee’s skills and personality, as well as his level of understanding of football and ability to read both the game and the various tactics employed by teams’.

Basically, this means that all of the thirty-six referees present at the World Cup 2018 will have plenty of international experience and have proven to be impartial in the past.

What’s more, the referees present at the competition have been selected from across all of the six continental FIFA federations; the AFC, the CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, OFC and UEFA. This is to make sure that the referees understand different playing styles and to make sure that there is no conflict of interest.
