All Star Team Odds
The All-Star team award is one which perhaps you haven’t heard of, but many of the greatest ever footballers have been a part of World Cup All-Star teams. Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff, Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane are in All-Star teams of the past, just to name a few.
There aren’t currently any betting options specifically for who will get into the All-Star teams. Such markets may open up towards the end of the tournament, but there is no way for us to know for sure.
However, there are betting markets open which relate to the All-Star team. You can bet on the Golden Boot, Golden Ball and Golden Glove winners as well as the player to get the most assists in the competition. The winners of all these awards will almost certainly be in the All-Star team for the 2018 World Cup.

Past World Cup All-Star Teams
As we have mentioned, the All-Star teams of the past are like reading a who’s who of the greatest ever footballers. An All-Star team has been picked since the very first World Cup in 1930.
However, in the 2014 World Cup, an official team wasn’t released. Instead, two different teams were selected in two different methods.
The first team was selected by the World Cup sponsor, Castrol. The ‘Castrol Index Top 11’, as it was called, was selected through analysis of statistics.
Here is the full Castrol All-Star team from the 2014 World Cup:
- Manuel Neuer
- Thiago Silva
- Mats Hummels
- Stefan de Vrij
- Marcos Rojo
- Philipp Lahm
- Oscar
- James Rodriguez
- Toni Kroos
- Arjen Robben
- Thomas Muller
The other 2014 World Cup All-Star team was selected through an online poll conducted by fifa.com and was called ‘Dream Team’. Here is that team:
- Manuel Neuer
- David Luiz
- Marcelo
- Thiago Silva
- Mats Hummels
- Angel Di Maria
- Toni Kroos
- James Rodriguez
- Lionel Messi
- Neymar
- Thomas Muller
It remains to be seen who will make it into this year’s team, but we are willing to bet that a number of those players will be ones that have been listed in this article. Roll-on the 14th June!
