Croatia has many capable midfielders and attackers, but not many wingers. This is the main source of confusion for the team and for our predictions of the starting squad.

While we’re pretty sure that Luca Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Milan Badelj will play from the very start of most matches, it’s possible that one of them could be replaced in an attempt to balance out the team.

In the front line, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Mario Mandzukic, Andrej Kramaric and Ivan Perisic. If the younger players are successful, they might take the starting positions from the veterans, so we’ll have to wait for their first official World Cup match beforehand.
