Colombia Squad

Ranked 16th in the world by FIFA and having played in the quarter-finals in the World Cup 2014, the Colombian squad seems to have worked out a formula on how to excel in international matches.

The man responsible for Colombia’s recent success is team coach, Jose Pekerman. Not only did he lead Colombia to the quarter-finals, he also has three FIFA U-20 World Cup titles with Argentina to his name.

The following 23-man squad will be at Jose Pekerman’s disposal in Russia for the World Cup 2018.

Goalkeepers:

David Ospina (Arsenal), Camilo Vargas (Deportivo Cali), José Fernando Cuadrado (Once Caldas).

Defenders:

Cristian Zapata (Milan), Dávinson Sánchez (Tottenham), Santiago Arias (PSV Eindhoven), Óscar Murillo (Pachuca), Frank Fabra (Boca Juniors), Johan Mojica (Girona), Yerry Mina (Barcelona).

Midfielders:

Wílmar Barrios (Boca Juniors), Carlos Sánchez (Espanyol), Jefferson Lerma (Levante), José Izquierdo (Brighton Hove & Albion), James Rodríguez (Bayern Múnich), Abel Aguilar (Deportivo Cali), Mateus Uribe (América), Juan Fernando Quintero (River Plate), Juan Guillermo Cuadrado (Juventus).

Colombia World Cup 2018 – The Star

The man under most scrutiny from the Colombian team will most probably be James Rodriguez. At Bayern Munich, he has scored eight goals on top of having another 14 assists last season. His current form definitely seems to be very promising.
