Online blackjack is the online version of the classic casino game, blackjack. By playing online blackjack at your online casino, you can enjoy everything that the great game of blackjack has to offer wherever you are, whether you’re sitting at home on your desktop, or travelling around on your mobile phone.
Blackjack is one of the simplest games to learn and playing online blackjack makes it even easier. Blackjack has particularly great longevity because although it has simple rules that are quick and easy to pick up, it can take years to master and memorise all the strategies that need to be employed to win big money from it.
The aim of online blackjack is simple. It’s player vs the dealer. The player and the dealer are both trying to get the total value of their hand of cards as close to 21 as possible without going over it. At the end of the round, whoever’s hand is closer to 21 walks away with the pot.
At the start of the game, a player places their wager for the round. They are then given 2 face up cards, whilst the dealer is given 1 face up card and 1 face down card. The player then has 2 options, hit or stay. If the player hits, then they receive an additional card, which goes towards their hand total.
They can keep hitting, but the more cards they accumulate, the closer they get to 21 and therefore the more they risk going over it and losing the round immediately. When the player is happy with their hand total, they can stay to end the round, at which point it becomes the dealer’s turn.
Because the dealer’s moves are automated, the dealer has a fairly predictable move set, in which he has to stick to specific rules. In online blackjack, the dealer must continue to hit until he hits 16 or goes over. Even if the dealer surpasses what the player has, the dealer can not make a decision to stop hitting. The aim of online blackjack therefore, isn’t necessarily to get as close to 21 as possible, but to instead to simply try and beat the dealer’s total hand, which is far more regimented than the players will ever be. The dealer can also not make specific special betting moves which the player can.
Any moves the player makes in online blackjack are determined by how much money they can afford to bet. Although to play each hand, the player only needs to make a single starting bet, the player can bet further amounts to make special moves in order to improve his chances against the dealer. Online blackjack will allow players to make moves such as “doubling down”, “splitting” and “insurance.
Doubling down effectively means just doubling your bet. You can do this at anytime during the player’s turn phase, however, as soon as you double your bet, you can only hit for one single additional card before having to stay. In this way, you can try and make more money if your hand turns out to be a particularly strong one, while taking the risk of only being able to receive one further card. Splitting allows the player to split his starting 2 cards into 2 separate hands.
They’ll then be dealt an additional 2 cards to fill out both their new hands, and will also have to place a wager on their new hand. In this way, the player is playing 2 separate games of blackjack against the dealer’s single hand, so they can risk losing on one hand, but still win with another, therefore increasing their chances of success.
Players can also make an insurance bet in online blackjack, which stops the player from losing all their cash if the dealer gets a natural blackjack of 21 with their starting hand.
