Luis Suarez’s World Cup biting shame triggers damning sponsor reaction.

The world renowned betting firm 888poker confirmed that their sponsorship deal with Luis Suarez has been terminated with immediate effect over the biting incident involving Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in Uruguay’s World Cup Clash.

In a recent statement the betting giant remarked that ‘888poker signed Luis Suarez following a fantasticLuis Suarez season for which his achievements were widely recognised’

‘Regrettably, following his actions during Uruguay’s World Cup match against Italy on Tuesday, 888poker has decided to terminate its relationship with Luis Suarez with immediate effect.’

Established in 2002, 888poker are the second largest global online poker network and employ the best poker players from around the world as well as top celebrities to help endorse their products.  The brand is ever increasing in size especially in regards to its mobile operations, as recent figures show that on average 17% of 888’s UK wagers are placed on mobile devices.

Other endorsements

Luis SuarezIn other news relating to Suarez’s biting incident Adidas announced on Thursday that they fully supported FIFA’s decision to ban the striker and that any future marketing material would not include Suarez for the remainder of the tournament in Brazil.

Adidas are also considering removing their marketing posters distributed around Brazil showing Suarez bearing his teeth. More news will follow.
