Super-sized bitcoin gambling site Primedice suffered a colossal $1 million loss when one of its loyal members worked out a way of ‘gaming’ the system.

Essentially the member worked out a way hack the dice roll game that gives players a way to win bitcoins.

The naughty hacker known as “Hufflepuff” figured out a way to get Primedice’s server to send out a load of unencrypted seeds. “Hufflepuff” was then able to use these unencrypted seeds to make bets that he’d know he’d win or lose on. Crafty.

During the incident, Primedice noticed that “Hufflepuff’s” winnings were mounting up abnormally but it was difficult to understand why as Primedice only has a house edge of about 1%.

By the time they had worked out what had happened, it was far too late.

The major issue now for Primedice is that bitcoin transactions are anonymous and irreversible so finding “Hufflepuff” and there $1 million will be damn near impossible!
