Astro Cat is a bit of an enigma of a game, given that the base game features only 5 reels across 3 rows, while the game totals 1296 paylines. Allow me to untangle this a little. The first thing you’ll notice about the game is that it’s Chinese themed – the titular cat is one of those little waving figurines you get in Chinese takeaways. The theme is completed with a setting in a temple, with plenty of other Chinese imagery to boot.
There’s two bonus features in the game. The first one is a pretty boring extra spins round which you can trigger when three or more waving cats appear on your reels. The other bonus feature is a little more exciting, and explains the discrepancy between the reels and number of paylines. The Reelfecta Reel bonus turns the third reel into a 4×4 grid, effectively becoming four new reels, and adding a whole bunch new possible paylines. Once you get your head round this odd game mode, it’s a whole load of fun and very valuable.

If you know one thing about NYX Games, it’s probably that they are experts at creating compelling blackjack variants with exciting side bets. Well, Hi Lo Blackjack stays very much true to that form. You can play the game like regular blackjack, with all the usual game options and layouts, but with one slight variation.
When you’ve revealed the first card in your hand, you can then gamble on a side bet to say whether you reckon the second card will be higher or lower than the first drawn. While it’s not a hugely technical game, it’s a fun little extra, and allows you to be a winner even if you lose your hand.
