At the end of last week we covered the release of the highly anticipated iPhone 6.
Apple certainly did a great job with their usual razzmatazz at product launch but with Apple fans the world over all vying for the latest piece of must have hardware many tech savvy people probed the new iPhone’s credentials and found it wanting.
Slow progress
Rather than pushing the technological envelope the iPhone 6 has instead incorporated technological wizardry, and sold them heavily as a unique selling points, found in Android devices back in 2012.

Outperformed
To highlight the issue Ron Amadeo, the technology review editor at Ars Technica in Chicago put together an infographic detailing the new iPhone specifications with LG’s 2012 Android flagship the Nexus 4.
In terms of specifications the Nexus 4 seems to match the iPhone 6 and even outperform it in some areas.
Mutton dressed as lamb?
Key areas of similarity are highlighted by both devices having the same screen dimensions, NFC capability and the ability to customise widgets, something Android users have enjoyed for many a year. Incredibly though the Nexus has a slightly higher screen resolution of 760p compared to Apples effort of 750p. What definitely seems to be the case with this piece is that Apple are playing catch up with Android.
Home truths
All this will make rather depressing reading for Apple fans who have in the past enjoyed, even prided themselves on having some of the best kit on the market.
To balance the argument a little it must be said that the iPhone 6 does boast new and improved hardware over the Nexus and is able to use Touch ID fingerprint-recognition technology for the user to lock and unlock their device, even pay for items.
Nevertheless, Android phones today have more powerful internal components than the iPhone 6. To rub salt into the wounds Ron signs off his piece telling Apple users to ask Android users for help in using the ‘new’ features.
