Kathy Beale

Just when we thought Eastender’s couldn’t get any more dramatic over the last 12 months, along comes Gillian Talyforth and the return of Kathy Beale!

For those that are unaware Kathy was/ is one of soaps original characters when she appeared in the first ever series back in 1985.

Since then, kathy’s character formed major parts in controversial and hard hitting story lines until she left the show on January 2000.

Gillian’s CV isn’t to be sniffed at either. Since leaving Eastender’s she has held a variety of roles in some very well known, established television programmes such as (deep breath…) The Bill, Casualty and Hollyoaks, as well as Footballers Wives. Oh and she’s also done the obligatory Celebrity Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing too.

Rumours

Now after all the rumours and speculation, as well as brief appearance during the 30th anniversary episode, Eastender die-hards, us included, are now foaming at the mouth in anticipation for Kathy’s explosive return to the soap later this year – that’s right, Kathy’s return has been confirmed by a beeb insider!

That said, the woman behind the character herself hasn’t been one to shy away from controversy. Gillian has reportedly caused a bit of a stir with BBC bosses as she recently took on a lucrative job as a judge on ‘Porn Idol’ at London’s Heaven night club.

Although, everyone can relax as the beeb has been assured that she’ll have nothing to do with the porn bit…how that will workout is anyone’s guess.

Headline grabber

But this isn’t the first time Gillian has had her name in the headlines for one reason or the other, but frankly, it’s best that we park those (ahem).

More recently however, Gillian also has an appearance to make in court later this year to face a charge of drink driving. Who said it was just the soaps that were full of drama?

Regardless of the drama, are you excited to hear about the return of Kathy Beale or do you think the BBC have ran out of ideas? We’d love to hear what you think, let us know in the comments
