An investigation into what is regarded as the worst mobile phone habits has revealed that walking and texting is number one on people’s list of smart phone grumbles.

In the UK, one of the top complaints was texting whilst walking, which could hinder a user’s vision and potentially cause a serious accident.

Another was users playing on their phones at the dinner table, which included social occasions such as dinner with the parents to lunch with friends. More and more people are finding it sociably acceptable to use their mobiles at the dinner table even when they are mid-conversation.

The next group of grievances all had a similar theme of video playing, from mobile phone owners playing recordings loudly in a public place, to taking photos and videos constantly. The most annoying moment that was pinpointed was when audience members at a gig record the event rather than participate in it.

Interestingly enough, these widely held and commonly voiced pet hates come as no surprise to smart phone users. In fact, we are all guilty of condemning these crimes and then committing them ourselves.  So why do we ignore smart phone etiquette and instead choose to annoy and enjoy?

Perhaps the simple answer is that we commit these faux pas’ because we just enjoy our mobile phones that much. Rather than presenting a problem, these pet hates back up the fact that smart phone usage is on the rise and people are using their mobiles in more locations. A decade ago people were disgruntled by those listening to their music through headphones when out and about, but now this is commonly accepted in the public place.

If this is the case, then what will be the next technological advancement to irritate?
