With so many social media accounts ran by celebrities, sports personalties, big business and alike it is inevitable that mistakes will happen. That said, some of these mistakes we’ve found below are breath-taking! Feast your eyes on these beauties!
The CFO of Twitter: Anthony Noto, made a classic gaffe by tweeting a message which should have been a private message. The gaffe, which was very quickly deleted, was aimed at a colleague and read: “I still think we should buy them. He is on your schedule for Dec 15 or 16–we will need to sell him. i have a plan.”
The message apparently referred to Twitters acquisition of the selfie app: ‘shots’ backed by someone called Justin Bieber. Major mess-up!

US Airways NSFW!
After a long ‘tweet argument’ between the US carrier and a customer the Airliner tweeted an amazingly inappropriate image involving a naked woman and a plastic object shaped very much like an aircraft! The tweet was deleted over an hour later after the airline claimed that the image was accidently copied and pasted!?
Union Street Guest House, a New York City hotel, decided to get a little heavy-handed with wedding guests that left negative social media posts by fining them $500…
“Please know that despite the fact that wedding couples love Hudson and our inn, your friends and families may not,” reads an online policy. “If you have booked the inn for a wedding or other type of event . . . and given us a deposit of any kind . . . there will be a $500 fine that will be deducted from your deposit for every negative review . . . placed on any internet site by anyone in your party.”
Of course, once the public found out about this cheeky tactic the hotel carried out a spectacular U-turn saying it was all a joke! Yeah, sure. Loadsa money!
MasterCard made a priceless mistake by hiring a PR firm that forgot to read up on the basics of PR. The PR Company tried to pressure members of the press into tweeting an ‘endorsement hashtag’ for MasterCard as ‘payment’ for gifts and special treatment during an awards ceremony – and it spectacularly failed!
Needless to say the mishap when ‘viral’.
Life’s Not So Good
So, LG decided to poke fun at Apple’s controversial #bendgate (its bendy iphone6) by taking to twitter via their French account and boldly stating “Our smartphones don’t bend, they are naturally curved ;).”
The only issue being was…that…it was tweeted from an iphone!
Clearly, the social media guru operating Redcross’s twitter account failed to switch his phone off as soon as the booze started to flow…
